We went to Brian’s family for Thanksgiving this year. The past couple of years Brian has had to work on Thanksgiving and we were not able to leave town so we really enjoyed getting to go somewhere. We had a wonderful visit and got to see family members that we do not get to see as often as we would like. This was also Linley’s first Thanksgiving. She had a lot of fun watching all of her cousins and enjoyed a wonderful meal of baby food sweet potatoes. Yum Yum!! Layne and John-Isaac had a great time although they didn’t enjoy the food as much as Brian and I did! Layne wanted mac and cheese and a roll, and John-Isaac wanted a peanut butter sandwich!! Go figure!!
Monthly Archives: November 2008
We have had our tree up for a few days now, but Linley really hadn’t paid much attention to it until today. I looked up and she was making a B line for it. She stared at it for a long time before she couldn’t take it anymore and just had to touch it. I think I better get some pictures of it soon because I have a feeling by Christmas morning there may not be much left on the bottom of the tree!!
Yes, another month has come and gone. They seem to come and go so quickly. Linley is 10 months old now. She is crawling, and almost pulling up (she can make it up on her knees). She is the friendliest little thing! She waves and says hi and bye to everyone we come in contact with. She still only has 2 teeth (I am starting to wonder if she will get any more!). She has started acting bashful. If someone laughs at her she will grin and put her head down. I cannot tell you all how much fun we are having with her. She worships her “bub bubs”. I guess our biggest challenge these days is keeping the floor clean because everything she picks up goes straight for her mouth. We are looking forward to her first Thanksgiving and Christmas!
For anyone who knew me, oh say about 17 years ago knows that my life at that time revolved around New Kids On The Block. You could not see the wallpaper in my bedroom for all the posters. My poor mother carted us all over within a tri-state area to wherever the nearest concert was. It was crazy. Well, at the beginning of this year there was the announcement that NKOTB were going to reunite with a new album and tour. The first time I heard this was on the news about 4 o’clock in the morning while I was feeding a one week old baby. Honestly, I thought I had probably dreamed it, but come to find out I hadn’t. There were four of us in jr. high and high school that were hard core, crazed fans, so we all decided it would be fun to all go to this reunion together!! We got tickets back in May and on Nov. 10th we traveled to St. Louis for the big event. Before the concert started we got to go back stage and briefly meet all five guys. They were all very nice. The concert was great. It brought back a lot of memories and oh, for about 2 hours we got to feel like we were 15 again! The concert let out around midnight and we decided to walk across the street to the hotel and change clothes and go get something to eat. We drove around for a while and could not find anything open. We decided to drive by the arena and see if their buses had left yet. About that time one of their buses pulled out of the garage. What were we to do but follow it! We followed it for about 20 minutes thinking they were probably just driving straight through to Kansas City, when all of a sudden they exited off the interstate and pulled into a Waffle House! We casually went in and sat down. Sure enough Donnie, and Danny came in with an assistant and body guard. They were very nice and we got autographs and pictures! It was such a fun trip for all of us.
Layne will be 8 December 19th, but we decided to have his birthday party a little early this year since it is usually so busy during December. He wanted to have a Wii party after attending one earlier this year. We had it at the church where we could project the games up on the wall. They had a great time playing Mario Kart, Lego Star Wars, and Guitar Praise (Guitar Hero but with Christian music). Layne got his own Wii. He said now that he has his own he won’t have to go to Dede’s house to play O’Neal’s anymore. I guess that is a good thing since O’Neal is getting married and moving in May!! We all had a great time and Layne had so much fun with all of his friends.
Layne had his first field trip at his new school today. They went to the exhibit at the ASU museum called Grossology. It is an interactive exhibit that teaches the science behind all of the gross things that happen in our body like why we burp, why we throw up, why we have body odor, and why we toot! All the little boys thought it was the greatest thing ever!! We all had a really good time. Layne couldn’t wait to get home and tell Daddy all the “Cool” things he had learned.
For Halloween this year my sister and I decided we would dress the kids as the Flintstones. Layne was Fred, Vivian was Wilma, John-Isaac was Barney, Ava-John was Betty, and Linley was Pebbles. Our friend’s little boy was going to be Bam Bam but had to have his tonsils out on Thursday:( We missed you Tobin!! Get better soon:) The kids had a blast. We went trick or treating through a nearby neighborhood. They all got tons of candy. I think they will be sugared up for weeks!! It was a great night.
