Layne thinks that his little sister is the greatest thing. He asks to hold her all the time, but today it was just so sweet. It was almost like they were having their own little conversation. He would say something to her and she would coo and smile back at him. Linley lights up like a christmas tree every time Layne walks in the room. I can already tell they are going to have a very special bond. I want to get some pics of John-Isaac with her, but he is still a little leery of her. He will give her a kiss on the head and say, “I love you” but that is about it. He has stopped holding his ears when she cries, so we are making progress!!

Linley had her 2 month checkup yesterday afternoon. She now weighs 12 lbs. and is 24 inches long. She is growing fast! She also got her first shots yesterday. I always hate that. We are doing an extended shot schedule just for my peace of mind. I don’t know exactly what I believe about shots and autism, I just know that I want to take as many precautions as I can. We do have one prayer request. Dr. Matthews is sending Linley to see the cardiologist from Arkansas Children’s Hospital. He could hear a very faint murmur when she was 4 weeks old and thought it would probably go away by now. However, he could still hear it yesterday. We are hoping that it is nothing and that it will still take care of itself, but Dr. Matthews wants to have it checked out. They are supposed to call me and give me an appt. this week. There is a chance we may get to have the Echo done here, but we will probably have to go to Little Rock. Please pray with us God will take care of this. I am trusting that He will.
Waiting on my shots.
Today is Brian’s birthday. I won’t say how old he is, only that he is now closer to 40 than he is 30! My how time flies. Happy birthday baby! Brian had to work today so we are going to have cake tonight after dinner to celebrate. Today is also special because it is our 11th wedding anniversary. Yes, we got married on his birthday. I figured that way he could never forget! Just kidding, The real reason is that day would have been my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary and Brian was gracious enough to let me have that precious day to adopt as our anniversary as well. Eleven years later I still have no regrets! It is wonderful to have a partner in this life who believes the same way you do, lifts you up when you are down, helps with the house work, and is a great father (he even changes diapers and sometimes gets up with the baby so I can get a little more sleep!). I am very blessed! I hope our eleven years turns into 80+ years! I wouldn’t want to have a day without you, babe!
Linley smiles all the time until you get the camera out! Finally yesterday we got a picture of her smiling, dimples and all. Layne had a little awards ceremony at school and I had my camera handy when she started smiling. She is growing too fast! She was 10 weeks old yesterday!

The week before Easter the boys were on Spring Break. The beginning of the week got off to a rough start with John-Isaac and Brian having Strep throat. The end of the week was better with a trip to the Memphis Zoo and a trip to Monticello to see my grandparents. Here are a few pics from those trips.

Linley slept through most of her first trip to the zoo.

Today is National Autism Awareness Day. As the mom of an autistic child this is a very important day for me. Awareness is the greatest defense we have in this battle. New advances are being made every day. Everything from ABA therapy to B12 shots are helping our children to lead more normal lives. Autism affects 1 out of every 150 children today and as high as 1 out of every 94 boys. Most of you either have or know someone affected by autism. If you do not you probably will in the near future. This is a horrible epidemic that is stealing our children from us. For more information and early warning signs you can visit www.autismspeaks.org .
This past weekend we took our first trip to Grandma and Grandpa’s house with Linley. I had forgotten how much “stuff” you have to pack when you have a baby! Depite a lot of planning we hit the road 4 hours late! Everything turned out just fine and we still had a great visit. Linley got a lot of spoiling from Grandma and Aunt Angela, and Layne and John-Isaac really enjoyed getting to play with their cousin Xander. We are home now and back into our weekly routine. I cannot wait until summer vacation!!!!
